Dear Niece Maude:
I have been wanting to write for sometime but now I am started. I promised to send you some information about the family tree! I finally contacted Edith (Clark) Seebert (and Spelled Ang) she gave this about Clarks.
As for the Weber & Humphries, I didn’t do too well. I want to get from Min (or Mia ?) some data her Dad had but I will get that later.
Grand father Humphries (or Humphrey) moved from Pensylvania to Kentucky then to Illinois where he married a Miss Yarber. I did not find out her given name. There were three children. Rueben, James, & Mary E. your Grand Mother.

After His first wife passed on, he married a widow Mary Elizabeth (Van Winkle) Blake. She had three children Jessie, Chester, and Caroline. From this marriage there were 4 children Ada, Charles, Frank, and Edward.
Louis A (S? H?) Weber imigrated from Tolle Hanover Germany to Illinois when he was 20 years old. He married Caroline Yarber who was a sister to the first Mrs. James Humphries. There were four children William, James, Sis and Cora. After his first wifes demise he married Mary E (Humphries) she was a widow (her first husband was Van Winkle, she was very young 16 and the marriage did not last very long). She was about 20 when she married

Louis H. Weber there were nine children Elizabeth, Louise, Louis, Ellen, Matilda, Safona (died when 4 years old), Edward, Charles, Lawrence.
If I can get any other data I will let you know.
About a month ago, I went to see Wilbert Humphries and his family 7 children and his wife. I will get their names and ages when I see them again. Jack Smith still lives with them he says he is 96 years old and has a good memory. He sees very little has cataracts on his eyes, never wore glasses and never had false teeth but had his teeth pulled by non Dentist Wilbert’s sister we called her

little Ada has 7 children she lives in Maseoutah she married Allen Schaeffer. She has been ailing for some time and is very thin.
Min & John flew to Temple City Sunday am to attnd Keith & Mary’s 25th wedding aniversary. Also they are moving into a new home. I will get information when they return.
Elsie’s husband has been in St Elizabeth Hospital for the past week but is doing nicely. Has a swollen leg also has stomach pains and he has asthma. Clydetta Rrolan has been sick and is some better. Roy is not too well has high blood presure and a heart condition they both worry to much. I have a part-time job. I took it as a favor to our ? (this sentence just ends here. I am not sure if I am missing a page but the pages are numbered and the next number in sequence follows below)

Sam Clark 75 years -10 mo ? 6 days
Charles and Elizabeth (Miller) Clark both of whom were natives of Virginia but who afterward removed to Robinson County Tenn where Sam was born Sept 23, 1823. Until the death of his father which occurred in 1843, he remained with his parents assisting in cultivation of the home farm. His eary days having been passed in the wilderness far from schools, he received no educational advatage, but became an itelligent, well informed man through study, reading and observation. In 1849 in company with six companions, he crossed the plains to Cal with ox teams taking six months to make the journey. He remained there two years and a half & was quite successful in his mining operations. He returned by way of the Isthmus of Panama, landing at New Oleans & from there he came up the Miss. River to Illinois. He purchased a farm in Shiloh Valley which he conducted successfully and which he improved until it is ow one of the most valuable

farms in the county.
In 1852 he was married to Miss Sarah Ellen Henderlite, a sister of the late Capt. W. N Henderite. After the death of his first wife he was again married to Miss Sophronia Merrill daughter of Sylvester Merrill. She died several years later.
He retired from activelife several years ago owing to feeble health since which time he and his two daughters Annie & Kate have been living in the city. Two children were born to the first marriage, the elder of whome, James, yet surivives at Tombstone Ariz. The following were children from the second marriage: Sylvester M (Bud) sweet Springs Mo, Alford S. St. Louis, Samuel D, Susan Kerr of Ava Ills. Kate E at home and Anna M at home.
Mr. Clark was taken ill suddenly Sat night sortly after he retired & gradually grew worse and died at 11:05 pm Aug 1, 1899.
